The Central Bank of Japan.
Established in 1882 by the Bank of Japan Act, and headquartered in the Nibonbashi region of Tokyo, the BoJ is independent from the government and is solely responsible for contributing to stabilization of the economy through monetary policy, issuing bank notes, and gathering and reporting economic data, among other activities.
The Bank is run by the Policy Board. The recent governors of this board are:
