Title of the State office of the UK who is responsible for economic and financial matters of the nation
The Chancellor controls the Her Majesty (HM) Treasury and manages fiscal policies such as government expenditure, and monetary policies such as targeting a specific inflation rate. This is the position much like the secretary of treasury in the US.
The Current Chancellor is George Osborne (2010 – ), who succeeded Alistar Darling (2007-2010)
