The interest rate that banks charge each other for federal funds

The federal funds rate is indirectly controlled by the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) and pertains to the rate banks charge each other for overnight loans of federal funds. Not to be confused with the Federal Reserve Discount Rate, but it is also an indicator of all other interest rate directions.
