Short for Foreign Exchange – a market for global currencies

It is made up mainly of large interbanks and institutions but also has a retail component that has been growing since the 1990′s.

The Foreign Exchange market is the largest and most liquid financial market in the world, with turnover estimated to be $ 4.0 Trillion/day this year according to the triennial BIS report in 2010 (Press Release).
