The G-7 members include: United States, Japan, Great Britain, France, Germany, Italy, and Canada.
G-8 includes all of G-7 and Russia who although not a full member has been participating in talks since 1994. The European Union represented by José Manuel Durão Barroso (president of the European Commission) has also been in attendance since 1977.
Presidency of the Group of Eight is rotated annually and falls on Chancellor Angela Merkel of Germany for the year 2007.
