The interest rate set by the Reserve Bank of New Zealand (RBNZ) for its overnight money market

Introduced in 1999, the RBNZ sets this rate regularly 8 times a year, to target inflation. Sometimes, it will meet if there is an emergency such as a financial crisis. The rates effect market interest rates and indirectly on consumption behavior, which ultimately affects price pressures.
