A volatility based moving average developed by Tushar Chande.

Overview

The Variable Index Dynamic Average (VIDYA) indicator was developed by Tushar Chande and described in the March 1992 edition of Stock & Commodities magazine.

Chande’s VIDYA is a moving average that automatically adjusts its speed based on market volatility. The absolute value of a 9-period Chande Momentum Oscillator is used for the volatility index.
